This skeletal diagram is not intended to be a comprehensive illustration.

It's first function is to show anatomy students the location of principal bones they will encounter during study and clinical practice.

Its second function is to provide students with a point of reference to better understand the associated Skeletal Muscle diagrams.

Head:
- Occiput , Parietal bone, Temporal bone, Frontal bone, Zygomatic Bone, Maxilla, Mandible.

Chest & Shoulders:
- Scapula, Clavicle, Manubrium, Sternum, Ribs, Xiphoid Process (cartilage).

Arms & Hands:
- Humerus, Radius, Ulna, Carpals, Metacarpals.

Spine:
- 7 Cervical Vertebra (Cx), 12 Thoracic*1(Tx) Vertebra, 5 Lumbar Vertebra (Lx), 5 Sacral*2 Vertebra (Sx), and 4 Coccygeal Vertebra*2.

*1 studies indicate that approximately 1 in 1000 people, particularly tall men, have a 13th Tx or 6th Lx.
*2 the individual bones of the sacral and coccygeal vertebra fuse during infancy to become the sacrum and coccyx respectively.


Hips: Ilium, Pubis, Ischium.

Legs & Feet: Femur, Patella, Tibia, Fibula, Tarsals, Metatarsals.
